Engagement Session Planning

Yes! You’re engaged!!  Your engagement session planning has to be on your mind.  Where? How can I make our images represent us?  I prefer to schedule engagement sessions at a local park right before sunset.   To create beautiful park photos the weather and sun is the biggest concern.  My studio policy for engagement sessions are that if there is a 60% or greater chance of rain on the scheduled day we reschedule for a better day.   In your second location is when you can really give your images some personality.  To give you a few ideals to make your engagement session more unique, I have a few suggestions.   If your not from the St Louis area you can take a few of these ideals and find similar venues in your city.  

Forest Park Engagement Photos

This is a perfect example of how planning for a sunny day at the “magic hour” pays off.  I absolutely love the sun behind the trees.

Local Coffee Shop

One of my favorite engagement sessions was at Sacred Grounds coffee shop in Edwardsville, IL, a favorite of the couple.  The pastries and Harry Potter books gave an insight into the personalities of the couple.  If you have a perfect coffee shop then this would be perfect for you. 

Scottrade Blues Engagement

Engagement session at Scottrade will cost $425.  Your session has to be scheduled on a game day.  You will have an escort from the Scottrade to guide you through the authorized areas.  Sorry no ice pictures!  But if you want your picture in the penalty box you are in luck.  A photo out front is free!  Nick and Ashley had a rivalry between her hometown Blues and his Redwings.  You can find more information here:  https://www.nhl.com/blues/tickets/game-day-experiences

Busch Stadium

If you and your man are Cardinal fans you may want to include Busch Stadium in your engagement session.  You have several options, you can purchase half hour access for $250 or one hour for $450 and bring your photographer.  This gives you access to the red and green seats, the dugouts and the field warning track.  You can find more information here: http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/stl/ballpark/events/weddings.jsp?content=portrait_sessions

City Museum

The City Museum in St Louis is full of endless possibilities!  The roof is my favorite with the 30-foot-high Ferris wheel.  You will find planes, a bus, castle and a city scape that looks amazing at sunset.  You can access the bank vault and a kaleidoscopic, awe-inspiring hallway of mirrors depending on current events. To schedule your engagement session at the City Museum call the museum’s Group Coordinator and make arrangements in advance.  The admission is $12.00 with the roof an additional $5.00 with weather permitting.  Parking is $5.00 and is cash only. Let’s shine and take advantage of the moment, dress to impress!
